Abstract

Non-alcoholic liver disease (NAFLD) is a term of the disease spectrum ranging from simple steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis including fi brosis. This disease is common in the practical fi eld. Abdominal obesity and insulin resistance are thought to cause NAFLD. Insulin resistance causes fat accumulation in the liver parenchyma. After fat accumulation infl ammatory changes occur in the liver. Oxidative stress has an important role in infl ammation. Ultrasound is commonly used to diagnose NAFLD. Weight reduction is a good therapeutic method for NAFLD but effective pharmacological modality is not yet established.
